At the Test Camp Intralogistics 2023 everything revolves around innovations in intralogistics. At the TEST DAYS, finalists completed the IFOY audit, among them DS Automotion with the software solution ARCOS. The results from the innovation check and the evaluation of the expert jury are very promising to bring the coveted IFOY Winner award to Austria on June 22, 2023.

Since March 2023, DS Automotion has met the demanding safety requirements of the automotive industry. The world's leading technology company in the field of mobile robotics for in-plant logistics and assembly applications has aligned its business to meet the stringent safety standards of its customers.

The med.Logistica is an international congress for hospital logistics with accompanying trade fair and took place on May 16 and 17, 2023 in Leipzig.

Almost 1,000 participants from the DACH region as well as numerous international participants again took advantage of the opportunity to exchange ideas about logistics in hospitals during these two days at the central industry get-together.

A successful LogiMAT 2023 lies behind us and was able to underline the relevance of this trade fair with a new visitor record of over 62,343 trade visitors during the three days of the trade fair. This is the highest number of visitors since the trade fair opened its doors for the first time.

Many of them were created for specific use cases, follow specific philosophies and are fixated on certain navigation and localization procedures. This applies to driverless transport vehicles (AGV) and autonomous mobile robots (AMR) as well as to guidance systems and vehicle software.

Heat pumps help us reach our climate targets. Instead of fossil fuels, the environment-friendly heating and cooling systems utilize energy from the ambient air, soil or phreatic water. In Holzminden, Germany, Stiebel Eltron manufactures various types of heat pumps on a common, highly flexible production line. There, a driver-less transport system made by DS Automotion takes care of the fully automated transport of the unfin-ished heat pumps between manual work stations that are linked using conventional conveyor systems.

In the interview with Wolfgang Hillinger, CEO of DS AUTOMOTION and member of the board of VDMA, the topic of VDA 5050, the advantages and disadvantages of a manufacturer-independent fleet manager and topics such as Plannable Autonomy are discussed. The question of what is behind the Layout Interchange Format will also be clarified and a look into the future of driverless transport systems will be ventured.

In just six months, SSI Schaefer was able to automate the existing mobile racking system at Ostendorf in Emstek using automated guided vehicles (AGV) and its WAMAS® intralogistics software. Right after the go-live in the middle of 2021, the positive impact of this partially automated logistics solution was clear and quantifiable: it ensures transparent, error-free processes and makes the material flow resource-independent – and thus more efficient – in three-shift operations. Achieving these objectives was an important step for this plastics specialist in order to meet its customers’ increasingly specific demands and strengthen its position on a highly competitive market.

The characteristics of reliable and efficient are no longer a contradiction. DS Automotion has succeeded in combining the advantages of AGV and AMR as part of a joint research project with RISC Software GmbH and MTA GmbH. The motto is "plannable autonomy" and the project is called MicroAGV. The new navigation technology enables the vehicles to navigate completely autonomously as well as to drive "virtually" lane-guided if desired. DS Automotion thus solves an important problem for users to improve system performance.

The switch from fossil to electric power presents the automotive industry with major challenges. Demand for batteries as a key component of electromobility is rising rapidly. In its largest European facility alone, a German premium manufacturer is expanding its production capacity for this in several steps to 500,000 units per year and is relying on application-optimized automated guided vehicles from DS AUTOMOTION.
